Not In A Million Years weaves together the almost unbelievable, and yet true, stories of three people who survived, endured and/or created extraordinary experiences during their lives.
A man lying in a coma for over a decade suddenly wakes up and speaks lucidly to his wife and sons. What did this feel like? How could it not be read as a miracle? How often before this moment had his loved ones given up hope and wished he were dead?
An airhostess survives a mid-air plane crash - the greatest distance anyone has ever survived from a fall. She becomes a Serbian national hero and is given a Guinness book of records acknowledgement. How does she feel about becoming a hero by enduring a horrific event that was not of her own making?
An athlete breaks a record by fifty times the amount the record is traditionally broken by. An amazing event becomes the focus of suspicion, derision and ridicule with fellow athletes claiming that the event has been ruined by this one person's Herculean effort.
What effect do such extraordinary events have on all of us, on our approach to living, the risks we're prepared to take, the appreciation of the basics and our collective empathy for the human spirit?
Force Majeure will use a complex synthesis of movement and words to create a window into these extraordinary experiences and forge a work that connects us to situations that we hold in awe, yet simultaneously fear.
