Este Darin-Cooper

Este currently works in human rights policy for the federal Government as Director of Regulation and Strategy at the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner. In that role she works with the public and private sectors in relation to data handling initiatives, with a focus on emerging technologies, digital identity and national security. Prior to joining the public service in 2010, she was awarded a Bachelor of Laws / Bachelor of Electrical Engineering (1st class hons) at the University of Melbourne, spent several years working at major law firms in Australia in intellectual property and financial services law, and was an Associate at the Federal Court to the former Justice Lindgren. Este has been a long-standing supporter of the arts. She is the founding director of the Darin Cooper Foundation, whose mission is to advance the Australian community through grants to arts organisations and education programmes. She is also a director of Beyond Empathy, a member of Philanthropy Australia’s NewGen program, and contributes to a range of initiatives that develop the careers of young Australian artists.
